Hi, my name is Alessandro and I've ordered an I Pace in mid July. No info yet on delivery date since the order goes thru the company I work for and the leasing company providing the cars for the managers so I've no direct relationship with Jaguar. Anyway I'm not expecting anything being delivered before 7 months (so I was told).

In my family we already use another full electric car, a BMW i3 94Ah (30Kwh battery), no REX. It's a little over a year now that my wife is using it, replacing and old Toyota Yaris. We love our i3 and it's perfect for city use for a family of 4 as we are. Maybe we are not completely in love with the weird rear doors but it's not a tragedy. :D

So the I Pace is going to be our 2nd electric car leaving us without a petrol one (I drive an X3 at the moment). Actually there is a little bit of cheat on this, as my compay, to promote the use of electric cars fot its managers, is allowing us to request a petrol car to be used up to 40 days / year. Basically I can have a "standard" car for long trips (summer vacation) in case the electric car won't make it.

I would like to thank the users that with their posts made possible for me to decided to order the I Pace without the opportunity to even see one as Jaguar in Rome, where I live, is expecting the first car for their showroom in October.

Two days ago I had finally the opportunity to drive a brand new black HSE for several hours (my company got one from Jaguar for a week or so) and it's amazing. So happy I already ordered it.

That's all, we'll see in the forum ;)

Welcome and congratulations Alessandro!
How are the charging stations in your region? Do you have fastchargers at 100kWh or more?

I leave near the FR border in CH, IT is about 90 km away through the Mont Blanc tunnel.
I know that for now I wont be able to use my ipace in northern IT due to lack of fast chargers (only Tesla), some AC but with our 1 phase, recharging time would be too long.

Welcome and congratulations Alessandro.
What are your plans to charge your I PACE in Rome : home, office , public charging network ?
I will receive my SE before the end of October and i can tell you that charging an I PACE in Paris using the public charging network BELIB is quite a challenge and can be very expensive I.e. 16€ per hour after the first hour to get only 7KW/h !
This is due to the I PACE charging limitations : AC 1 phase charging up to 7KW + charger on the wrong side of the car which makes it almost impossible to use the DC cable + business model by the minute...

What are your options in Rome ?

As far as I know there are no 100kw charging station in Italy at the moment. It's under deploying a network by Enel X made of 22kw AC stations and 50kw DC stations, but no 100kw, at least under this project. I did see something on Ionity web page about a partnership, but nothing more than that.

Yes, I agree. The 1 phase AC charger is going to be a limiting factor at the moment.

I'll be charging the car at my office (AC only at the moment) and I'm going to install a wallbox in my garage at home. The wallbox will be 3.7kw only, but for a top up is ok. Overnight I can get as much as 37kwh (10 hours) which is more than 30% of the battery equivalent to some 120 / 140 km.

DC charging station in Italy are normally made in such a way you can get to the cable no matter which side of the car the carging point is. This because normally you park in front to the DC station and not on one side. The real problem is actually the lack of DC stations in the cities. At the moment DC chargers are being installed along the motorways and only AC chargers are deployed in the cities. As already commentes, with 1 phase AC charger this is problem with the I Pace.

In Rome there are 4 DC chargers right now very close one to each other as they have been installed and used for the E Gran Prix a few months ago. There is another one on the motorway ring around the city. That's it ...

Rome, November 9th, 2017 - Enel's CEO Francesco Starace and the Director of the Global e-Solutions Division Francesco Venturini presented today the company's National Plan for the installation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, which will envisage the installation of around 7,000 charging stations by 2020 to reach a total of 14,000 stations by 2022.

That must be the plan you are referring to: https://www.enel.com/media/press/d/2017/11/e-mobility-revolution-enel-presents-the-charging-infrastructure-plan-for-italy

Would be interesting to know how far they vs the 7,000 target by 2020. Is the info available anywhere?

Enel currently has app 550 AC chargers - most are 11kW or 22kW. As far as I've noticed the number of 50kW CS chargers is still very limited (<10). There are still also quite a large number of small regional providers of 11/22kW chargers.

Thanks, just saw this

I'm not sure about 550 AC chargers, but I'm pretty sure DC chargers are way more than 10. There 6 in Rome (4 in the city and 2 just outside) and there one every 40 / 50 kilometers between Rome and Milan on th A1 highway. And those are the one I'm sure about, there can be other ones too. Unfortunately all of them are 50kw, not 100 / 110 kw which would be a lot more appealing for the I Pace.

Grazie Alessandro but I can't see them on the Plugsurfing and NewMotion apps. On which apps would they be visible?

You can check on Enel x app or nextcharge app as well. I counted about 70 DC chargers not evenly spread Italy. Southern Italy (as usual) is in a worst situation compared to northern and center Italy. Sardinia for example has zero DC chargers at the moment.

Update on DC chargers installations in Italy: there should be a total of 200 DC chargers installed by the end of 2018 and one Ionity charging point (4 x 350kw). My I pace is not arriving before February so I should be able to experience a much better situation than the current one from the charging point network point of view.

In France we have also 200 DC chargers along the motorways ( SODETREL Corridor network , 50KW ) and Ionity will install within a year 60 charging stations with 6 x 150KW chargers each

For the main Sodetrel chargers located on the motorways you will need either Sodetrel, Chargemap or New Motion badges and App.
For secondary chargers the Sodetrel badge is recommanded as well.
