I don't have my car yet, but was wondering what you can set to happen with preconditioning and what functions of the car can be controlled from the app?
Initially I was hoping that heated seats, windscreen and steering wheel could be part of the preconditioning routine, but then I saw a post on here yesterday which seemed to suggest otherwise...
Sorry but preconditioning only sets the climate control. Depends what you mean by preconditioning but I suspect you're talking about that. By setting a departure time and plugging your car in it will also preheat the battery prior to departure. But for cabin preconditioning it just does climate control, not seats and steering wheel. Actually not quite true, as it also demists the windscreen.

Sure, but wouldn't it be nice if during those icey winter mornings you could walk out, unplug the car and jump in to a warm seat, warm steering wheel and pre-cleared windscreen?

Would be nice and others do it (Tesla) but I wouldn't hold my breath. The API doesn't seem to support it and the mobile app doesn't either. Chances are they would have to update the vehicle software as well.
It's real sad, and actually very strange, that they didn't include front/rear heated windscreen with the precondition. I actually now need to preheat for 20-30 min, then get in my car and start the rear heated windscreen for about 10 minutes before I can drive away with clear sight.
- Stupidity by design?
I agree that it's a stupid omission. The heated seats too. I'd rather jump into the car with a warm seat than a hot cabin. Also, heating the seat uses less energy than heating the whole cabin.
I think this has been covered somewhere but I can't find it. Does anyone have issues with the preheating and charge timer? I set mine to only charge in the morning for an hour but the car just starts charging after a few hours anyway? Anyone experience this?

What you are experiencing is the implementation of the way Jaguar manage battery charging.
You are able to set a "preferred charging period" in the car, which is likely to be totally ignored.
Jaguar has designed its charging strategy such that the battery will always be at a 100% SoC for any entered departure time. This can mean that battery charging will start at an unexpected time if the "prefered" charging time does not provide a 100% SoC.
If no departure time is set then the charging will begin straight away.
If you have an intelligent charger that you can set on/off times in the charger itself, then this can be used to control and limit charge times for the car. There is an issue with some earlier versions of the software in the I-Pace that this does not work with.
If you use the Wattcat software, you can charge to a reduced limit to delay charge start time. I have dual rate electricity and charge to 90% unless I anticipate a long run. This generally keeps my charging within the preferred time settings! Wattcat is available through this forum and shows the potential of the I-pace software
I'm using an old fashioned dumb charger and am advised that the new smart wall chargers are potentially programmable to specific charge times

Yes, some are. I have a new Zappi 2.0 installed and it allows timed charges. It would be even nicer if we could program the charger to stop when the car reached a SoC %, ie charge all you like at these times but stop when the car reaches 80%.
Yes I have a dumb charger but hopefully will get a new one soon. By the way has anyone ever seen this screen. 1st time getting it today when I got home and turned the car off. What is it syncing to and it was going for a good 2 mins. In the end I just left and locked the car!

Ah, I think that is one of those feelings that you sometimes get as an I-Pace owner
It does clear up though.
