Re: Are BEVs the solution ?

You're really turning into a "half empty" person Chewy. People have (with mathematical certainty) declared in the past that "No vehicle can possibly carry enough fuel to achieve Earth escape velocity" and done the calculations to prove their assertion. "PV will never be affordable or efficient enoug...

Re: Dealership Chargers

None of the dealer's posts seem to have made it to ZapMap (I tried notifying them of my dealer's which I discovered whilst visiting to check on i-Pace test drive availability early this year). JLR must have decided not to make it public the way Nissan and Renault dealers have, presumably wanting to ...

Re: Confession

The UK has an infrastructure of over-supplied lamposts (cabled for incandescent, now using LED). They're mostly in urban areas, which is also where the 30+% of on-street vehicles sit all night. A very cheap conversion to the millions of available electricity supplies will provide overnight slow char...

Re: No SIM card?

The car SIM has to be connected to the Ubigi network when you create the account. I have a problem here, that the only connection I can get is via EE. I needed to be out of my local deadspot before I could create the account.

Re: Timed charge at home

Listed building, so having to jump through a few more hoops to get approvals. Probably be next Spring now as I'm not too keen on them removing the roof during the Winter. (Getting the garage re-roofed with in-roof PV)

Re: How was your dealership experience?

"trousers tied up with string" I wasn't that bad but I did turn up on my Motorcycle. No one batted an eyelid. Different to when I went to buy a BMW 320i. They did get a bit sniffy that I wasn't riding a BMW bike. Grange Swindon didn't seem to mind me turning up in an Audi. Even charged it for me wh...

Re: Timed charge at home

My charging regime will obviously adapt to PV and a Zappi. No point paying even night rate if the car can top up for free.

... will we really be better off owning an EV over traditional ICE vehicles
I thought the idea of EVs was to save the planet, not to save money?
And remember that charging away from home is the exception for most of us, so you're still saving money and the planet 90% of the time.

Re: How was your dealership experience?

I contacted my nearest dealer (Swindon marginally - there are 2-3 others only a few miles more in different directions) via the "book a test drive" option on the configurator and received a generalized reply from the business head talking in terms of helping me decide on which of the range would mos...
