Re: 100kW charging is not a myth

I think it's sad when I hear people have assumed that WLTP range is typical range and not more like best case range. To some extent they should have done their homework before buying into a speck they obviously did not understand. I think this is partly the fault of the WLTP test I think WLTP equiv...

Re: Real world range of EVs

In case you haven’t previously seen this: https://www.whatcar.com/news/what-car-real-range-which-electric-car-can-go-farthest-in-the-real-world/n18159 Getting back to the original post, the What Car text methodology seems a bit strange. They discharged to zero, then measured the energy taken to ful...

Re: Booking Hotels with EV Chargers

Some of the newer Polar chargers accept contactless debit cards for payment I believe. I assume non UK cards would work with those ones. You’d have to check up in advance though as I’m not sure how you’d know which chargers do and which ones don’t. Contactless payment is not as common in some count...

Re: Road Trip; Charging in Europe - please advise.

It’s a great shame the one near Reims is useless for anyone heading from Calais to the South East on A26. It is not accessible in either direction without a huge diversion. Unfortunate and strange choice of location.

Re: Ionity Network

The website shows live and 4 stalls. The Ionity App shows only 3 stalls, all “unavailable”. Are all 3 in use at 10pm Thurs evening or are they still not actually live?

Re: Confused by Preconditioning

Pre-conditioning greatly increases your 100% SOC regen. Sometimes it turns itself off, and I don't understand why yet. It will pre-condtion whether or not it's plugged in. You will hear it running. It certainly needs some polish. You can certainly hear the fan running as it preconditions the cabin,...

Re: Isolation Switch - ChargedEV

Makes sense. I’m not an electrician, but you can understand why they need to fit a new isolator between your main fuse and the charger. They will have to pull that fuse (and cut all power to your house) to fit the isolator, but can then work on the charger with that isolator off. If they didn’t fit ...

Re: Isolation Switch - ChargedEV

I think the requirements for a 7kW = 32A charge point are, rightly, quite specific. Are you being strictly correct in saying you have a “fuse cupboard” and a 100A “fuse”? Not circuit breakers? If so, you might need a new consumer unit. I think at the minimum, you will need an isolator switch with an...

Re: New Car Charging

Sat 1 June was an exceptionally hot day in most of UK. If you had been “playing” with your new toy before charging, everything would have been hot, so almost certainly the fans and the battery thermal management system would have been working quite hard, hence the noise. I normally hear nothing, but...
