Re: Pre-conditioning batteries - questions

Does preconditioning, when plugged in, use a significant amount of available power? i.e. although battery charging would still continue, it might be at a sufficiently slower rate that if you pre-condition for, say, 15 minutes the battery gain would be very small? It does reduce the charge a bit, bu...

Re: Pre-conditioning batteries - questions

The preconditioning only preheats the cabin and also the batteries if the car is plugged in. What you can do is pause charging at 85% and then start preconditioning when you're ready. Charging will resume at that point however. That’s how it’s supposed to work, but if you poll the API the car also ...

Re: Amazon buys 100000 EV trucks !

Have they sold any EVs yet? Had a look on their website and the two Adventure Vehicle models seems to only have "pre-order" buttons. Rivian are well funded, and I have a chum who is doing some work for them and speaks highly ... but build 100,000 trucks in 3 years for one customer seems quite a tal...

Re: Ecotricity - something has to change.

PS - went back to Moto to thank them for their reply and said that i did hope they were using a different partner for this roll out of 350kW units. They said that it would be Ecotricity rolling it out. Intriguing - for a company that cant even get to 50kw most of the time that is impressive.... Jus...

Re: Route Planner Transfer

You should get a pop up on the sat nav saying “route started, continue?” or words to that effect. Accepting that should start the route in the car. However, for some weird reason you seem to still need to manually stop it in the phone app or you’ll get annoying “ping” sounds every time the phone app...

Re: Stop charging at 80 or 90%

Regeneration is of course fine, but for range it does not help to start out with 90% charge and doing regeneration, instead of starting out with 100% and throwing away the regeneration energy in the beginning. Normally in the time it takes to go from 100% to 90%, there would seldomly be regenerated...

Re: Stop charging at 80 or 90%

Grip from those P Zeros is impressive though. This prompted a thought I had last night You're on 22" Pirelli, as is the loaner I'm driving My own car is on 20" Goodyear Eagle Are they using different suppiers by wheel size or just bunging on whatever comes to hand ? They use different suppliers by ...

Saw my first Model 3

Not a very exciting post but I saw my first Model 3 in Prestwick yesterday. Sort of blue-grey metallic colour. It looks better than in the pics, but I still find the front end a bit ugly. Side and rear are nice. But it’s no I-Pace! Nice to actually see one in the wild, although I’ll probably change ...

Re: Stop charging at 80 or 90%

I find it too low to be usable. It is also different and I like the car to behave consistently. That's my view too (Tesla in my case). Only have reduced regen in Tesla if I charge above 90%, which is only for long trips, so that's fine ... until we get to Winter and then I have it every time I set ...
