Re: Grid carbon intensity

Dave, are you sure? Last century I worked on the privatisation of Scottish Power and my understanding at that time was that the Interconnector with England was for surplus/deficit. In this respect also the Scottish hydro system was efficient in that overnight surplus from fossil powered stations in ...

Re: Ionity/Maingau

Malcolm - If you have downloaded the APP "Maingau - Einfach Stromladen" then you go to Account, then Payment Methods and then Add Payment Methods. You need your name per the account, the IBAN, BIC and name of the bank. I have used an HSBC France account and all the details were on my RIB. For some r...

Ionity/Maingau

In advance of a skiing trip I had been trying to download the Maingau App and had got stuck at adding a payment method. Encouraged by the prospect of cheaper Ionity charging I had another try last night and seem to have been successful this time. You need both the IBAN and BIC (Bank Identifier Code)...

Re: Roofbox or ski carrier

Packline NX195 box fitted yesterday. I am impressed with the rigidity and overall quality. It does not dwarf the car which would easily have taken the longer but lower profile NX215

Re: Roofbox or ski carrier

Malcolm, yes it was. They also sell the NX Premium model which is on the I-Pace in the photo shoot. I decided to go for the smaller and cheaper NX195.

Re: Roofbox or ski carrier

Thank you for the advice. and steer to Packline.

In the UK, Thule is the main brand. However, I have found a Packline seller and ordered the NX195 box - small Scottish people don't need very long skis! Will post a picture once I have it on the car.

Re: Best places to charge your EV in the UK

Edinburgh will get worse for charging as more and more taxi drivers swap to the electric black cabs. A Gretna/Edinburgh return in the winter must be close to impossible. I left Edinburgh fully charged and pre-conditioned on Friday morning with the temperature around freezing. Drove at the speed limi...

Re: Roofbox or ski carrier

So, I did some research at the weekend. The I-Pace has a very short roofline. If I set a 2000mm ski box forward of the opened boot then it will hang out way over the windscreen. The position of the roof bars and design of the boxes seems to permit this. Has anyone used a ski box? What size and how d...

Re: Roofbox or ski carrier

Thanks all. That's really helpful. Roofbox it is. I like the photo on Thule's site of the Vector roofbox mounted on a Porsche Panamera lurking outside the IceQ restaurant in Solden. Unfortunately, it is a wallet melting £1,350 and I don't think that includes the Porsche or lunch for four in IceQ. Re...

Re: Roofbox or ski carrier

Thanks all. That's really helpful.

I can cope with a 10% reduction in range and am probably happier plodding along at 110 kmh.

So, is the view that naked skis on a rack would disturb the airflow more than a sculpted roofbox?

Regards
Andrew
