Hello,

Has JLR provided, or is JLR ready to provide, a commitment that the 2020 MY I-Pace will support 3-phase charging?

If there is an official commitment that can be provided, please also provide the maximum power at which this charging can be carried out.

Thank you,

DM

Hex Dave,
GVA for Geneva? That were I leave too.
I was told by the dealer that anything ordered after mid-April will be delivery as of March 2019, and it will be with the 3 phases.

Hi Max69,

I live in The Netherlands and I ordered the I-Pace (production in November 2018). I really would like a 3 phase onboard charger. Did your dealer mention anything about an upgrade possibility from a 1 phase charger to a 3 phase charger?

Hello Flink,

No that will not possible - that is the info received so far from NL dealer and Customer Service contact from this website. It would require hardware changes inside the car - it is expected that via software updates the DC CCS charging speed can be increased to 120kw maybe even 150kw

All 2018 deliveries for NL will be single phase - very unfortunate but for company car drivers a 2018 delivery is greatly beneficial financially.

Any upgrade on this ?
I was told unofficially by local dealer that my IPace to be delivered in March will be 3 phase, but when asked for official statement (so I can buy 3 phase EVSE before car delivery), my local EV specialist at JLR stopped responding :/
So I'm still not sure whether this is a gossip or misunderstanding based on 3 phase car socket using just 1 phase....

My Tesla had what is known as dual chargers fitted to the car, but only one was enabled. This gave me charging on a single phase at 32Amp, similar to the I-Pace. To turn on the second "phase" for charging would cost £5,000.00. This would mean a visit to the dealer for them to plug the car into a Control unit and change a couple of parameters - 5 mins at the most. I decided not to go for it.
