Mine too.

Just noticed it this week when the weather has finally stayed 20+ degrees and I really needed cold air. It just blows air, not cold air.

It is already booked in (Aug 14th) to get boot struts sorted out (and this includes a loan car), so I've added "check air-con" to the job list. If it's potentially damaging the battery, now I'm wondering if I should use Assist attempt get it looked at sooner.
It's probably a good idea to get assist involved

Phoned JA today. Guy came out said it was safe to drive to the service centre. He's booked it in but with it being Sunday could not arrange a date or loan car there and then. I should get a call from the service centre mon/tue arrange drop off/pickup loan car.

Air con was down to 1.6 bar, should be 7. Not good for a 4 year old car I think (previous car (Audi) was 10 years old and still blew ice cold air and never had a regas), but at least they'll sort it out soon now (and maybe the boot stuts too when I drop if off and ask...)

Yes. It's 2020 SE, Used Approved with JagAssist and extended warranty.

I had it booked in for August 14th by just phoning a dealer and booking myself.

Jag Assist speeded that up! I drop my car off tomorrow and pickup a loaner I-Pace while they have mine in for repair.

So now got loaner. Amazing how long dealers take to get you booked in against going through JA and where do these spare cars magically appear from? !! Well not complaining. Was my first call-out to them, certainly will be the first call I make next time!

Spare cars do not magically appear. The dealers have their own stock courtesy cars and JLR provide additional cars specifically for Jag Assist customers.

Similarly JLR say that a car brought in by JA must be diagnosed in 48 hours and once diagnosed fixed within a week (or thereabouts). JLR will expedite parts to meet these requirements too. So the dealers keep slots for anticipated JA assistance work, which i suspect is considerable.

If only all interactions with JLR were as straightforward as JA referrals.

Well it's a no brainer to have JA then if that's how it all works.

It's definitely made the premium for buying Used Approved (so no risk of failed check) and getting the "free" 2 year Warranty+JA.

I would have been suffering with no air-con until august without it. It was getting almost impossible to drive in the current heat wave we're having.

I have had my AC fail (sometimes more than once) each and every year I have had the car and I bought it in 2020. I just need to do a long trip somewhere hot and far from home to trigger this year's failure!

Whats the cause? Repeated leaks or more serious stuff?
In order, Software reset (did not work), regas and bolt replacement, regas and bolt replacement, HV heater replacement (technically not AC I suppose) and temperature sensor replacement (and likely cause of all prior AC failures).

There are quite a few known issues with the AC.

Valve failure (due to system complexity)
Gas leakage due to incorrect retaining bolts fitted as OEM
Temperature Sensor failures causing incorrect shutdown of AC
Pipe fractures allowing gas leakage

They replaced bolts twice ?

What about the compressor ?

Out of interest is there a DIY way to top up the AC refrigerant? If so what is needed and what is the process?

You can buy top-up gas from Amazon they sell both types of AC gas and you connect to the low pressure valve and they work but it's not really the best way somewhere like Kwik fit will suck all gas out to make sure it will hold a vacuum to confirm no leaks then fill to the right amount of gas

Yes. Service bulletins for bolts at condenser and then bolts at compressor. The issues were identified at separate times.

They also issued a bulletin for seals at charging ports.

Then they is issued one for bad welds on piping connecting to the compressor.

Other AC issues on the cars have included the normal random part failures for compressor and pressure/temperature sensors.

Thanks dude I think I will get it done for me then as I’d prefer the gas exchanged rather than topped up

So follow on to my above question. whereabouts is the low pressure valve located and accessed?

just had a look on Amazon and it says most cars after 2016 use r1234yf gas is this the correct stuff for the ipace?

if so would this kit be suited as it includes the hose to connect to the car.

So just found a local Pro Tyre that will do the aircon regas on the ipace and infact can do it today in an hours time. The cost is normally ÂŁ119.94 but if you use code WEBAIR25 it comes down to ÂŁ89.96 which seems a pretty good deal.

So will be blowing ice later today (hopefully)
