Interestingly, with the last firmware, the connection screen doesn't show up anymore, it's just the CarPlay screen that pops up after 30-40 seconds...

I have been using the Carlinkit 2 for some time and it seems to work well most of the time. I believe it is the same as the Carplay2air dongle apart from different branding. Mine connects with the phone and ACP is on the screen of the car wireless in about 45 seconds or so, most of the time. Once in a while when it has failed to connect to the phone, pulling the unit back out of the USB port and plugging it back in has solved the issue for me.
Happy with it so far. The sound quality on phone calls with the Carlinkit wireless ACP is much better and louder than direct BT connection to the car.

There must be some issue with your particular unit you have. Perhaps best to ask them to send a replacement unit.

This being Carlinkit 2? Cplay2air?
Carlinkit2 as in the picture. It seems at the moment to work very well and boots up quickly after starting the car. I noticed it now connects via wifi with my phone and not Bluetooth.

When our car starts up, we still get the connection screen even though we're on the 2021-03 update.

Went out in the car this morning. Carpay2Air took a good 5 minutes to connect, then reported that connection had failed. Auto connect then kicked in and the Appleplay screen came up but no audio in the car, iPhone then started happily playing though its own speakers!

Completed the rest of the journey playing audio from a USB stick!

Reached our destination, took dog for a walk, and car was left for about 90 minutes.

Got back in car - Carplay2Air connected immediately without showing the connection screen. Audio then proceeded to work flawlessly!

I'm completely flummoxed!

Regards,
Nigel

There are occasional glitches. Between iOS, ICTP Pro Duo/PIVI Pro and CPlay2air software, it's no wonder...

Quite agree.

This little device, when it works, is quite amazing, and you are quite right to remind me that there are a number of different systems all made by different manufacturers and all using different operating systems to do something quite magical.

My CPlay2Air unit works well most of the time, it's just that making the connection with my iPhone often takes quite a long time (usually about 2 to 5 minutes).

Once connected though, it works really well.

The other thing that is quite miraculous, is that I'm driving an I-Pace!

Kind regards,
Nigel

For anyone thinking of getting on of these, you might want to hold off for a bit. Carlinkit are sending me a review dongle to test out. Once I've done a video on it, they'll send me a discount code which you'll be able to use. It's not identical to the cplay2air. They tell me Carlinkit has a more stable chip, but I can't confirm that yet. My review one should come tomorrow. Will obviously take a bit of time to get the review done.

Good news, I look forward to watching it and receiving the discount after if it's any good :p

The video is online now. The video contains the link for a £15 discount on the Carlinkit dongle. There is also a tick box on the product page at the moment for £15 off (until 7th June 2021). If you use both the checkbox and my discount code during checkout you will get both for a total of £30 off.

I have the carlinkit 2. It has a different connection screen than on your video. I had no problem connecting it for the first time and it connects straight away each time I use the car within around 15 seconds of starting the car. A very stable connection

That's odd. This is the 2 as well. What does your connection screen look like?

Hi Abu Dhabi

Do you confirm the dongle you are testing is the Carlinkit 2.0? Any good results?

Here is what I see before it auto connects.

That's really strange. Is yours a 2.0?

Hi there. Yes I've tested both the Cplay2Air and the Carlinkit 2.0. Both work well but I do find the Carlinkit gives less problems. It connects quicker and runs a bit more reliably. I've also noticed that Siri via the voice command button on the steering wheel seems to connect better on the Carlinkit.
