I have to say, this morning I was being followed through the twisty local roads by a mysterious black sports car of some sort - no badges, and not anything I recognised - fancy number plate along the lines of "5 smy" as well - but as soon as I hit the straightish part, I left him/her for dust. TBH, I don't think they even tried to keep up, but it felt good. Must have given them a bit of a shock to see something dissapear as fast from in front of them though !!

edit: Just had a quick look at AutoTrader - I think it may have been the new style chevrolet corvette stingray. Sort of nice, but so old school using liquid fuel !

Im not annoyed at the Tesla Charging Network I can use over 100 of them and they just work I dont need any others for my journeys, covers most of the UK, Europe, the world soon enough thanks to their commitment to EV infrastructure.
You can now ... but access to the Tesla charger network for non-Tesla is relatively recent. No other manufacturer came close.

Sept 2022 I used Banbury regularly, admittedly huge amount more now! Yorks and Durham gamechabers for us

Wow. What a <insert colorful adjective here>!

How would ANYONE know this wasn’t a consideration for you since you did not indicate you weren’t interested in a Tesla in your original post? If that was such a hot-button issue that you would respond so rudely to someone who was trying to help you, then you should have disclosed your antipathy for Tesla’s upfront.

You were also rude to Webarno.

Again, someone was trying to help you.
It seems that @jeffreycooper1963 is pretty much rude to everybody.

I'll just insert my original post again - in which I only mention the Polestar 2 - it wasn't a general "whats better than the Jag" question, it was specifically about the Polestar 2.

I'm looking at Polestar 2's; Just had a lovely drive in the Jag, told myself to stop being daft and keep it, and yet here I am still on AT checking them put. Please tell me a Dual motor long range with performance and plus packs wouldn't ease my itch. Please !
and none of my replies were actually rude - just questioning why people seemed to be more interested in discussing their ideas about Teslas than answering something about the Polestar - this wasn;t the thread for that sort of reply.

and that is just simply wrong, and I have no idea why you would think or say that - it just seems like an attempt to cause trouble, and I have no idea why.

Continual observation on this forum since 2019.

i had a 2020 i-pace for 5 years, and in 2024 I bought a BMW i5 M60, which is a superior car in just about every respect. The Jag lost so much value that instead of trading or selling it I gave it to my son-in-law, and he loves it. My thoughts on your question are as follows: the i-Pace was my favorite car I had ever owned up to that time (after owning too many european sports cars/ sedans to describe without embarrassment), hands down. I enjoyed it until the day I gave it away. As much as I really enjoy my i5, there was something about the Jag that gave it a personality. Mine started having electrical problems, so this became an issue (but I think all is fixed now for SiL), but I still enjoy seeing it. The Polestar is cool looking, no doubt, but the Jag has classic lines that have weathered really well over time. Yes, the tech is better now, so there is a trade off, and I haven't driven a Polestar so I can't speak to its feel on the road, but if Jag had made an updated version of the i-Pace I would have bought it in a heartbeat. Not sure if this helps or hinders.
I am experiencing exactly the same feelings! My 2020MY I-Pace ownership is close to 5 years, but having driven a 2024MY Genesis GV70 EV I realised just how much progress has been made in EV development, while the I-Pace development has stopped, and combined with the removal by JLR of most of the “Jaguar-distinguishing” features, I was never going to replace it with another I-Pace I was able to place an early order for the updated 2025MY Genesis, and I am aware that my car has been received at the Fremantle Port of Entry here is Western Australia. I am now (impatiently) awaiting the official release of the model into Australia by Genesis Motors Australia!
Anticipating the same situation about trade-in values, I am passing the I-Pace to my wife, and we will become a 100% EV family!

The Corvette obviously didn’t want to play, the latest model is a lot quicker than an IPace, 0-60 in 2.9 secs. Personally just enjoy the effortless power knowing there are plenty of drivers with hot wheels that are braver than me.

I did suspect that. I just hoped the driver at least was surprised by the speed of the big grey lump with no exhaust pipe in front of him !!

Please let’s keep things respectful guys. If we disrespect members we belittle ourselves and will be banned. Clive.

I am surprised by how quick the ipace is. It's the EV difference.

A previous vehicle was nominally quite a bit quicker or paper, and in absolute terms given adequate room was practically quicker.

In everyday use, even with no discernable interest in the legal niceties not so much.

The issue is some combination of throttle response, a bit of lag, gearbox shift and the generally disconnected nature of the quite reasonable fairly common ZF auto.

Whilst the Corvette, well driven, would absolutely muller the ipace, in any reasonable everyday point and squirt situation it would be close. Well, certainly closer.

More of a direct comparison is IPace v FPace SVR, although the SVR has 150more HP they are very close on the test track, straight line the SVR edges in front then looses it on the bends, lower C of G benefits the IPace. For practical driving performance is the same, the reason to buy the SVR is the noise it makes and to hell with the running cost.

This is going to sound a bit strange probably, but for me, I can't actually tell anyone why the I-Pace is considered such a good handling car - I suspect that I run out of grip long before the car does, but actually, so did nearly all of the cars that came before. For me, I still get a nervous feeling with that extra EV weight going into corners, but maybe the fact that the Jag makes it obvious its my issue, not it's, is that superb driving capability making itself known.

edit: Hopefully what I'm trying to say is obvious, even though I realise my writing of it wasn't great !!

Well it depends what you're comparing too - for me it handled better than all the EVs I drove except for the P2 performance (I didn't drive the porsche as it was out of my price range). But it can't be hustled along a twisty road as fast as my audi s3 or my older Alpha but it has a much longer wheelbase than either of those and is about twice the weight.

It's strange; we've been EV for so long now, always trying to reduce consumption because of the limited range we could afford before the Jag came along, that I think I've forgotten (or never experienced!) how bad some of them were. The only feeling I'd get was the weight going into corners, which the I-Pace doesn't seem to show at all. As I said earlier, we aren't best placed in the country for seeing other cars for comparison - hence why I asked for thoughts on the P2 specifically. I think probably we've concluded that no car offers any less mental anguish, or better reliability, than the I-Pace, so more than likely we'll end up keeping it until it goes back to the PCP co. I may well remember though at that point your handling comment, so thanks for that, and perhaps also be able to afford one of the newer P2s that apparently are better than the initial models (a bit like the Jag!!)

They seemed to have upped the range on the later P2s which is good. As I think I said before the P2 ride even on the normal suspension is pretty firm and even more so on the performance suspension with 20inch wheels. It was too harsh a ride for my wife to consider.
