I don’t think it’s surprising that service admin staff know little about traction batteries because problems with them are unusual in the IPace. In any case many are non technical, even the service manager may have little technical expertise these days.

Definitely no courtesy car for me as the service person was adamant that the car is OK to use all be it with 80 miles less range. Once the case is logged then Ill be taking it further.

As to the lack of knowledge I think that most of the support staff don't really have an interest anymore. Even sales people know nothing about the product they are trying to sell as I was looking at something not long back and the sales person (senior i might add) could not answer one of the five questions. I do find that really annoying.

Will try JLR today to see if the dealer got the case in yesterday as until it is logged I can't really do much else.

I would keep note of the additional costs that you're incurring. I think I'm right in saying that under UK consumer law, warranty cannot exclude consequential loss, so if you incur additional costs as a result, they should be reimbursing you.

Mine went in on Monday for the same fault, but they did give me a courtesy car for “2-3 days” luckily! They have said I need the whole battery replacing, which is on back order (no eta). If they don’t ask for it back, I expect to have the courtesy car into next week. They gave m a lovely Discovery. Whilst I don’t complain because it’s so nice, I can’t help be think it’s the opposite end on economy (and emissions) - I estimate a mini of 10x more to run. Though I have rather fallen in love with the large Pivi touchscreen! :D

I thought I'd post my update/ experience, in case it's of relevance to anyone
The car has been with JLR a week now (I'm still in the diesel Discovery). Jaguar analysts told the dealer to replace the complete battery unit, which is on back-order (I believe a spike due to the recent recall). I may just be lucky that they haven't tried to hand back my car with the restricted but usable charging, until the battery comes in. That said, it does cost me about 10-12x more to run!

That's good news, I like the odd long length warranty work, doesnt half reduce the likelihood of excess milage!, With a new battery your car should be worth more! and warrantied for another 8 yrs!

Get “another 8 yrs” in writing! Correct me, someone, if I am wrong but I understood that repairs are warranted for the longer of three months or the balance of the original warranty.

Same thought here, I’d imagine the new battery warranty will only run until the original would have ended. Interesting thought about the new battery increasing the value, I had the same thought. However, I’ve been unable to find anything to indicate the mind of impact it has on the value. Has anyone come across anything?

Best bit is as well is there is a note on the sales invoice saying the car is out of warranty so looking for a goodwill gesture. Yes the three year warranty is gone (i do have extended Jaguar warranty) but the battery has a manufacturers 8 year 100000 mile so is still covered anyway. The sales person could not explain why that note was on the paperwork.

I also have a September 2018 first edition which had the H441 update a few weeks ago. Last week the well known warning showed up and now I am waiting for 3 new cells. No idea when they will be available. Mine stopped charging at 90% . I don't think that is reliable though.

I'm still waiting to find out if I can get a loaner.

Car back with Jag, hopefully sorting a GWM software update.

I have done 56,000 miles with zero problems, love the car but this weekend I got the traction battery warning, car will charge to 72% and drives normally but what does "OK to drive with caution" mean? can i use it on the motorway? 70 MPH ? Jaguar dealer doesn't seem to know.

Jaguars words and inference would seem to be drive sensibly at normal speeds acceleration etc and park away from structures where possible.
It doesn't imply you need to be too careful just sensible.

I have the same situation. Apart from reduced range, I have not noticed any other change or restriction.

For those who have experienced the reduced charge level due to a battery fault (as the H441 update was designed to detect) does the car stop the charge at (sic) 72% even if it is being charged via, for instance, IO set at 100%?

Yes. Although first time i got thr error car had charged to 100 percent, then refused to charge again until under 72.

IO just notifies you that you did not reach your desired level of charge.
