Hi All,
I did a search on the above, but didn't get too many specifics, so apologies if this a massive old chestnut of a subject/question.
However I'm now at the point of deciding what home EV charger to buy.
I have separate garage a little way from the house, so I guess I'd prefer the charger itself to be out site when the charger/cable isn't being used.
So figured I'd have the charging point fixed on the side of the house inside the garden and then a tether cable, running along the garden wall up to the drive way where the car would be parked (garage is too small to get the car in and be able to exit the car!!) The charging for the car would be on the driveway. Once I'd finished charging, pop the cable through the gap to the garden from the drive way ready to retrieve it for the next charge.
From the house to the drive way the cable distance would need to be circa 10m to 12m.
The main fuse distribution box is located inside on the side wall of the house. It's the run of the mill fuse box, so not 3 phase, not sure at this point I want to be looking at the type of investment the 3 phase solution may need. Maybe in the future.
I had been looking at the Pod point solo three, but to be honest, I hadn't realised there were so many chargers to choose from. Hence my question to seek some guidance on what might be the best fit based on peoples experience with their own chargers.
I'd like to be able to control the charger via the phone, that just seems like it's easier when needed, and the as charger would hopefully be mounted on the house should be good for wifi reception.
Is it possible to set up the chargers to start charging say 2 hours before off peak hours kick in, not ideal I know, but I may want to use the car before off peak ends and want to make sure the car is well enough charged for the journey the next day if I'm travelling a longer distance on consecutive days.
As always, thanks in advance for any suggestions, ideas, recommendations or warning off particular chargers (should there be any less favoured than others.!)
Thanks
Mark
