Dumb charging cables question

Post by Westy » Mon Jul 22, 2019 2:25 pm

Hi all,

Can I ask what charging cables I should expect to find included with a new I-Pace in the UK? Mine just had the UK 3-pin mains cable under the boot floor, but when it went into the garage for a repair, they loaned me another one and it also had a Type2-Type2 cable for a socketted connection (my home charge point is tethered, so would only need it for public charge points).

Have I been short-changed with my own vehicle, or is it just a case that there happens to be a Type2-Type2 cable in the loan car (just as there was also happened to be a spare wheel in the boot!)? If the latter, then I never asked this question and you've never heard of me, ok?!

Thanks!

My car had a 3 pin granny cable and a type2-type2 cable. And this is with a leased car where I wasn't even given the Ubigi SIM card. So I think you should definitely have two cables. Both were in similar polythene bags in the boot, suggesting they come together with the car when new.

Thanks both, I'll get on to the dealer then when I pick mine up! Mine's leased also but I don't see why that should make any difference to the standard equipment supplied.

You definitely should have two cables as standard spec.

Actually that is a very good questions as there are many different charging cables even for Type2-Type2

-> 3 phase vs. 1 phase -> IPace needs 1 phase
-> 16A vs. 32A - IPace can take up to 30A on that 1 phase, so take the 32A version
-> Other option include color, length, coiled or straight etc.

My IPace came with a 1 phase - 32A - Type2 cable about 4m long (~12 feet).
