Sorry guys i am a proud new owner of a Jaguar Ipace and i am thinking of saving the cable Jaguar supplied and purchasing one for day to day use. I have a charging station with a type 2 connector, and i need a cable over 7m long but after buying a new car i dont want a cheap Chinese one that could ruin my cars connectors.

The prices seem to range from £160 to nearly £300, i am just wondering what is the difference?
What's the difference? I'm no expert on this but some are a more robust design, have different warrantee periods and I guess where they are made. However, my last car was a BMW i3 and I had the official BMW type 2 cable and that lasted only two years before one of the contacts became lose. Couldn't be repaired as its a moulded in one plug. You would expect a BMW cable to be top quality, clearly not, so I think this is a bit of a lottery unless you are very knowledgeable about these cables. I would go to a reputable supplier, ask them where their cables are made and get one that is described as dust and water proof when plugged in and has a long warrantee eg. 5 years. As for damaging the connectors in the car, I think that is unlikely since they are quite robust pins in the car. As for the female receptors in the plug, I think these are more susceptible to wear and eventual failure which is what happed to my BMW cable. Hope this is of some help.

I wouldn't, but I would expect it to be (overly) expensive. ;)
