H228 - Modules that are updated

Post by Chewy » Fri Jul 19, 2019 11:10 am

The update covers software updates to the following – assuming they need updating –

Battery Energy Control Module
Power train Control Module
ABS Software
Brake Booster module
Parking Assist Control module
Cruise Control Module
Occupant monitoring Module
InControl Touch Pro system allowing SOTA
Caesium Blue S. 18” Wheels.
250+ miles range driven in the winter.
300+ miles range driven in the summer.

The only thing they did on mine was BCCM according to the paperwork. I already had a few things done though. I’ve had one SOTA update but haven’t had any more since then.

Sorry for this question, but can we tell if these have all been done? I had no paperwork or list of what was done other than H228 is complete!! I have noticed some changes in brake regen levels also seat cooler fan is more noticable when on... wish i got a list of work done, also i still have the old battery dial, not the new green version! is that right?

I am guessing, but if the dealer has implemented the H228 update then all the modules above will have been updated.

You will notice that the H228 update does not require updating of the Telematics Unit nor the Infotainment System. This will be why people are still running with older software after the update is applied. I think at this stage in the software evolution for the I-Pace, none of the customer facing software is free of bugs or issues, so it probably doesn't matter too much which version you have. The anticipated release in August, which may be further delayed, is supposed to sort out a lot of the issues without introducing new bugs.

trouble is, all software releases are supposed to “...sort out issues without introducing new bugs..” so depending on whether your cup is half full or half empty you may have more or less optimism about the next release. The track record doesn’t seem to be great......

The new battery dial comes with the latest IPC update which is seemingly not part of H228

As someone who spent the majority of their working life dealing with Software, getting user interaction stuff right is harder than most people think. The problem is often not really to do with the software but us users. We poke, prod and use the U/I in ways that most software designed could envisage in a year of Sundays. By contrast software that runs in the background is easy-peasy.
I managed to avoid writing user software for most of my career but there were times I had to bite my teeth and do it even though I hated it especially if I had to do it in Java or C++ or .Net.

I look forward to the forthcoming release from Jaguar but everyone should remember, the software is only as good as the testers who test it with the aim of breaking it.
Right to the end of my working life I encountered managers who would throw their hands up in horror if you included 'break it' tests in the test plan.
