This is what I see from the app before I log in:

01E688D4-3777-4B14-A933-B9638E602CB5.png

And this is the information after logging in:

It should show the usage details you’re looking for. Perhaps your account is not paired with your SIM correctly for some reason.

I got one when i collect my car, i find the 500 meg is enough, but i have 1 gig extra per month just in case... was still cheaper for me to stay with Ubigi and it works without hassle.... £58.00 for 12 months

I've now got my SIM and created an Ubigi account and in their FAQs it says "go to the 'My Account' tab to check remaining data allowance.
Am I being totally thick ?
There is no 'My account ' tab and I can't find the data allowance anywhere else, just lots of encouragement to buy extra data.
All I need the app for is to be able to check on data usage remotely and that's the only thing it seems unable to do.
Same applies to the online ubigi.me portal.
I haven't used Ubigi since the first couple of days of ownership back in April, but I recall, when you log in on your computer, the online portal, the first thing that pops up is your recurring data plan and what data you have left. Does it not do that anymore.

EDIT I just logged in and I was right, here it is, is this what you was looking for?

Had a moment of revelation in the middle of the night.
Suddenly remembered that I'd turned "Mobile Data" back off again after initializing the SIM and creating the account.
I did that to ensure that the SOTA update to S19B would use wifi for the download.
The app and the portal presumably need to communicate with the SIM to read the remaing data.
Turns out I needn't have bothered anyway.
When I was reading the Ubigi FAQs trying to find where my balance was hidden it says that even though the car's In Control software display for data used includes SOTA downloads, Ubigi doesn't include SOTA in the allowance, so the app will show a lower usage. You can freely allow SOTA without impacting your Ubigi 500Mb. Don't imagine the same applies to 3rd party SIMs.
Thanks anyway for all the replies.

My garage has always been a mobile deadspot, so when I went out to the car and turned Mobile Data back on, I didn't expect it to connect and was surprised when it did.
Still didn't communicate with the app though the phone was inside the car.
The IC display shows remaining allowance, but still not the phone app or the ubigi.me portal.
The car connection was being made through EE, not Ubigi so I guess that they have to communicate on their own network to access the data ?
Did notice that a new lamppost on the approach to a roundabout about 1/4 mile away erected only last week, has what I take for a mobile mast rising above the lamp. That could explain the unexpected connectivity
