How do you set up the navigation to show charge point locations?

Post by mjc » Mon Dec 24, 2018 11:38 pm

Feeling a bit dumb here.... I don't seem to be able to find how to switch on the charge points location function in the onboard navigation. Once I have entered my destination, and selected the route, there doesn't seem any easy way of seeing charging locations located close along the route. Am I missing something obvious?

Hi, will have a look after Xmas if nobody has answered. Mine is set up to automatically find charging points on the route if the car’s range cannot complete the trip.

By default the navigation will automatically add charge points on your trip.
U have to set up your preferred type of charge (plug type and power) in the general settings of the car

How can you check the details of the charge stations selected by the navigation system?

In the UK, there is the Zap-Map application. That shows you all the chargers, what types they are, the operator and the cost.
Invaluable.

I would like to know the details of the charge stations, selected by Jaguar nav. Two times, I followed the instructions from the Nav and ended up at car dealer with only AC chargers. It is possible to change the settings to 50 kWh or higher in the nav, but the nav can not find any chargers anymore.

I’m not relying on the Jag navigation to find chargers but various chargers apps available, much more accurate.

That is what I am doing right now. I accept the fact that the car has a lower range in the winter as this is typcial nature of EVs. However, for the amount of money paid for the car, Jaguar should be able to come-up with a decent and reliable navigation system in which the car navigates to a charger point when necessary. E.g. I made a 350km trip to Germany. I followed the nav instructions to charge the car with approx 150 km left to drive to my destination. The nav. directed me to an AC charger. It would take a bunch of hours to continue my trip while there were plenty of 50+ kW chargers in the neighborhood. This is insane. Come-up Jag, you can do better!

BTW: When selecting the preference 50kW or higher charge stations in the nav, the nav did not find any chargers. Today, I will install the nav. update. Hopefully, the 50 kW chargers are now added.

I believe you need to select 15-50kW in order to get the 50kW chargers, 50kW+ will not include them.

Biggest problem imho is that you cannot select CCS without having type 2 (AC) selected.
