You can't tear down a car to determine total production costs. All you can get is a parts list and material costs.
What was the rejection / QA costs?
What was the warranty costs?
What is the true man-hours?
What is the cost of capital?
How much was the engineering and testing costs after any and all Revision levels?
What costs were incurred by errors in the supply line?

Tesla does not build a luxury EV yet. Jaguar, Audi, Porsche, et al, are trimmed better at the base level than the Tesla is fully equipped.
2019 I-Pace FE
2019 & 2017 Chevrolet Volts

I wouldn’t put my trust in the source of that article.

By way of context, compare the following two articles reporting on an analysis of autopilot crash data:

https://arstechnica.com/cars/2019/02/in ... was-bogus/

https://electrek.co/2019/02/13/tesla-au ... ed-report/

Jaguar has other worries.. https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-02- ... atter-time
There is confusion here between Jaguar, JLR and Land Rover.

Jaguar, as a cost centre, is profitable and could be broken away from JLR. Land Rover has problems due to putting pretty much all their eggs into one basket - diesel. This is clearly not the only issue that has brought them to where they are, but it does not help. They are currently investing heavily in EV and PHEV, but this will take some time to show a turn-around.

The I-Pace is only the start.

Jaguar has to start to think differently, they are still treating I-Pace owners like they treat ICE owners. This will not work and could lead to their failure if they do not prick their ears up, listen and react quicker.

Personally I think Inside EVs has lost all credibility with some of its recent posts... it has lost the plot with regards to non-US competition. If you want to know what constitutes a true hate campaign then look no further.
