Preferred Charging START TIME (and 80% Charging)
Re: Preferred Charging START TIME (and 80% Charging)
I am new to I-Pace (awaiting delivery), but has anyone suggested to JLR that they should separate the scheduling of charging from the scheduling of pre-conditioning?

Re: Preferred Charging START TIME (and 80% Charging)
In a recent engineers presentation JLR have suggested that they tried to be clever with the times charging but it doesn’t seem to translate/relate to their customer and so in upcoming updates they will be changing it to a more simplistic model of just preferred charging times with remote override option.
When this will actually appear is another question entirely, but I think they’ve realised their approach needs amending.

I completely agree, but it seems all we are getting at the moment is “it’s coming”

Re: Preferred Charging START TIME (and 80% Charging)
Hi, I'm new to this forum and so glad I've found it... I thought it was just me that couldn't make sense of it! I am looking into joining Octopus energy GO tariff to make use of the cheap night Kwh's.
As you correctly say the ipace preferred charging period is more a preferred charging start time so I am toying with the idea of using a timed fuse in the consumer unit to turn off the wall charger at 4.30am. If I did this it would obviously be an instant shut off of power so wondering if this have any negative effect on either the car or my home charge point?? FYI.. I have a 'new motion' home charge point that as far as I am aware doesnt have timed charging.
Thanks in advance

I would assume this to be similar to just unplugging the cable from the car with no warning, I can't see how it would have a negative effect, happy to be corrected of course.

I actually gave up on this and just ended up buying an Ohme cable for the car. Obvioulsy not an option if you already have a tethered charger (I had a dumb socket type) but the integration with your energy provider just makes lide so much easier.
I tend to do Octopus Go in winter then change over to agile (Cable automatically reads the cheap agile periods).
Just set what time you want to leave, what % you want to be at, - set it to only use a certain price per Kwh and off you go.

Re: Preferred Charging START TIME (and 80% Charging)
If you do not set a departure time in the car then the current set charging times will just respect the charging window set in the app or car so you can start and stop charging based on these set charging times.

Re: Preferred Charging START TIME (and 80% Charging)
Thanks for replies. I have the 21MY HSE with Pivi pro with no option to set preferred charging without inputting a departure time.... Really don't see why you can't set charging period to charge for stated time regardless of battery percentage.

I have a podpoint with the Octopus Go tariff and can't get the ipace to charge when I want, so fitted a ZMAi-90.
Works a treat and only cost £30. Set to power on the podpoint when I have my cheap rate electric.
Hope this helps
