Preferred Charging START TIME (and 80% Charging)
Re: Preferred Charging START TIME (and 80% Charging)
I heard the I-Pace scheduled charging wasn't great so I bought a Ohme 32A cable for ours. So far it's been great.
Re: Preferred Charging START TIME (and 80% Charging)
Thanks Al's Ipace...think this is the most cost effective way to go. The Ohme cable option does look the next alternative option as octopus are doing them for £200 for customers
Re: Preferred Charging START TIME (and 80% Charging)
Yup that’s what I got.
Re: Preferred Charging START TIME (and 80% Charging)
Zappi chargers also link with Octopus and allow easy timed charging. Also link with Solar and Battery storage if you have it or may get it.

Re: Preferred Charging START TIME (and 80% Charging)
I have been following this thread with some interest. I am awaiting delivery of a MY21 HSE in March. I already have an Andersen A2 tethered wall charger installed. I plan to switch provider to Octopus, and then to Octopus Go once they get around to upgrading my smart meter to SMETS 2.
It is still not clear to me if I can use the Andersen app alone to set and control the timed charging for cheap rate night time charging, or whether I have to - in addition - set preferred charge times in the I-Pace itself (either in the car or via the Jaguar app). I seem to recall reading/seeing that the I-Pace will stop looking for a charge if it has not started to receive a charge within a certain time-frame after being plugged into the home charger. I am not sure if this has since been modified by software updates by Jaguar. Further clarification welcome...

I am going down the same route as you with an April delivery of the car and about to order an Andersen.rad wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 8:00 amI have been following this thread with some interest. Regarding your Octopus switch, you probably want to be starting as soon as possible. I requested a switch in November which took about 3 weeks to be implemented. It was then about 4 weeks to get the smart meter installed and about another week after that to get onto the Go Faster tariff.
Total was about 9 weeks (13 Nov - 17 Jan)
I now have 5 hours at 5.5p/kWh starting at 2030 daily which should be ideal.
Another 8 weeks until the car arrives...

I imagine that you would also be interested to hear the latest views and advice from this forum regarding how timed charging could work with the Andersen (and similar) home chargers - i.e. if the charger app can manage everything, or if you have to do something in the car settings as well.

Re: Preferred Charging START TIME (and 80% Charging)
I have my Andersen Charger set up to come on from 12:30 to 04:30 each day. The Andersen charge app is much more reliable than getting the car to do it. It works really well,is simple and intuitive. Very occasionally my Andersen Charger loses WiFi connectivity but it's never been an issue for charging.
The Ohme does nothing the andersen doesn't do except link to the agile tariff which I don't think would work as well for me as Go does.
There is no need to fiddle with timed charging on your car the charger takes care of all the timing.

I was about to post that @electric beagle here has an Andersen and a car - but he has beaten me to a reply!
Re: Preferred Charging START TIME (and 80% Charging)
Thanks! This is what I was looking for (and hoping). I remember seeing a video that Abu Dhabi Dude posted some time ago, where - despite having set the timed charging on his home charger - the I Pace stopped looking for a charge some time after it was plugged in, and therefore he had to make a work-around using (in addition to the timing on the charger app) preferred charging times and setting a departure time in the car, which seemed like a real faff. It would now seem that this is no longer necessary with the latest Jaguar software updates.electric beagle wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 11:01 amI have my Andersen Charger set up to come on from 12:30 to 04:30 each day.
