There is a setting in the menus to turn gesture control off although I agree mine was set to off and the tailgate still worked so not 100% sure it will be successful. Worth a try though.
MY21 HSE Caesium Blue, Black Wheels, No badges, Rear aircon, Privacy glass, Sunroof, Clearsight Camera, Wireless charger.
