Dangerous. IPace Brake issue with 12V battery

Post by Rudipace » Sun Jul 14, 2019 7:48 am

On the dutch Ipace Facebook, a couple of I Pace drivers with an issue with the 12V battery ended up with a dangerous non braking car. All they could do was let the car roll untill it stops. We do not know what happens if one rolls down the hill. At least do not drive anymore when you get the message that your Hybrid battery has issues. Contact your dealer and refer to the H189 letter for cars with VIN range F62270 -F67387 which explains the issue.

Does Antoine know if the parking brake still works when the system fails?

Luckily at very low speed, but I have experienced similar issue when the hybrid battery (the smaller one of the two 12V batteries) was failing. The car showed a warning message days in advance, stating that the sensitivity of the brake may be reduced. Assistence was somewhat vague when asking if I should see a dealer immediately (which I should have!).

In my case, parking brake did still work. The issue was that after system failure you could not get back into ‘N’ to move the car to the dealer (see other thread on hybrid battery issues...).

Where can we get these Jag letters like H189? Who do they send them to?

Letters are send to dealers or you can open an non dealer account on TOPIX. Just Google Jaguar topix.
