Experience in the recent floods

Post by Momomorris » Sun Nov 10, 2019 8:52 am

I live in South Yorkshire, and recently had the involuntary chance to try out the I-pace performance under very watery conditions.

The roads were very flooded around my work in North Rotherham when I got the call from my daughter that she was stuck in Meadowhall. I ended up driving through ‘lakes’ that were easily halfway up the wheels in depth,, to get to a point where I could walk to get her, her mate and. Couple of other strangers needing rescuing.

I then spent an hour and a half driving through atrocious conditions to get home in Doncaster. At one point I went through a ford that I would have been worried going through in my Defender. The water was washing over the bonnet...

I can report that the I-pace performed extremely capably, and filled me with confidence if I were to need to do it again. It held the road amazingly well, and seemed to be totally at ease in the worst driving conditions I have ever been in, in forty years of driving.

I think the IPace has the same wading depth as a defender from memory 500mm?

Hi Momomorris, I take it your I Pace has air suspension and was fully raised?

No, my I-Pace is a SE, it has the big wheels, but no air suspension.
