From previous experience, traction battery warnings may be a sign of failing 12v battery. Has yours been changed? My 2020 ipace 12v batteries failed at 2 and a half years with loads of weird error messages
My two 12v batteries were changed about 18 months ago.
 
My vehicle had the H441 update about 2 weeks ago and a couple of days ago, I had amber "Traction Battery" warning come up on the dash. Message suggests that it's still ok to drive the vehicle. charging is limited to 72%. It's going into the dealer in a couple of days. I'll let you know how I get on.
UPDATE
Vehicle went in to local dealer on the 9th August. I had a call later that day saying that the whole battery is to be replaced under warranty (car is 3yrs old 44000 miles). As yet no delivery date for battery from Jaguar . Vehicle will not be released back to me "for safety reasons" so dealer unable to give a return date. They have provided me with a hire car (Vauxhall Corsa) so I'm mobile albeit a bit cramped.
 
Day 11 here since update and no warnings as yet. I know it can take up to a month to detect. I honestly wouldn’t mind a new lease of life for the battery. Not to mention safety. I have charged to 75% twice now on a home 7kW. I can charge 100% but choose not to. I think what worries me is my car being sat there until parts arrive and my 12v’s are dead. Only replace them a few months ago.
 
Went in yesterday for second attempt at H441 (and to fix sim reader)
Returned today H441 loaded after software patch via JLR. SIm reader replaced as faulty. now on BS BECM

The following information was passed along to me.

If the BECM detects a non-normal event within a battery module, following completion of H441, then a
'Traction Battery Fault Detected' warning message will be displayed to the customer on the Instrument
Panel Cluster, the maximum battery charging capacity will be limited to 75%, and P1B48-00 will be stored
in the BECM. In this instance, upon entering a retailer, the below steps must be completed:

1. Select Fault and Breakdown​
2. Select Diagnose a Fault to begin a new workflow​
3. Add symptoms​
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the following guided flow:​
P1B48-00 - Hybrid EV Battery Voltage Deviation​
5. The guided flow will inform you of which modules require renewing.​

NOTE: If the guided flow detects more than 7 modules that require renewing then a new battery pack will
be required
 
Hi can any one tell me what the BECS software version is after the update. My version doesn’t seem to have changed after the fix. Mine is 2020 model so had to be done by dealer. Thanks in anticipation

As far as you know is it all pre-2020 models? Another user on here (sorry cannot remember who) stated it was a known LG problem and all 2019’s would be going in without a doubt for some sort of HV battery remedy.

Thank you very much for this information, I printed it out and took it with me when I took my car for testing today. The result was that I do have a short in the main battery and the whole battery is to be replaced under warranty. Replacement batteries are on back order at present and the job requires 3 technicians to be available. I will also need a loan car. So the job is booked for the 27th of September. In the meantime, I can continue to drive it.

Three technicians? My local dealership only has a single EV tech :LOL:
 
Maybe it's a Health and Safety rule in the UK? We have much more of a "nanny state" approach than in the USA - they don't trust us to have guns and they make us wear safety helmets on bikes!
Apparently, its something to do with high voltage safety and the fact that the battery is so heavy.

Certainly possible. Hope its not an actual physical requirement to do the replacement because, if it is, many in the US will be SOL.
 
It does require at least two people. One has to standby with a big hook when the HV system is being worked on in order to pull the other person away from live 400V if something goes terribly wrong. Disassembly of the HV battery requires multiple people due to the size and weight of the case cover among other things at various steps.

Are they just replacing them again with more potentially faulty batteries ? or have LG solved the problem and started issuing fixed batteries.

I believe that LG fixed the manufacturing issues some time ago (around a year ago, maybe longer), shortly after the major issues with Kia/Hyundai (similar type of pouch cells from LG). Kia/Hyundai owners waited for months to get replacement batteries I believe, but I'm pretty sure the backlog has now caught up.

Not sure how many cells LG have replaced to various manufacturers so far, probably runs into the millions. No doubt the high volume cars have received the fastest attention, as there were loads more of them off the road because of this. Off the top of my head I think there were around half a dozen car brands impacted by the LG problem. It was first discovered around three years ago, with a spate of Hyundai Kona fires, then there was the big recall in the US following a spate of Chevy Bolt fires, so JLR are responding very late to the known issues with these cells. To some extent I think that may be due to the packaging differences, I believe that the way the IPace modules are constructed slightly reduces the risk from the cell manufacturing defects.

Oddly in early 2021 this statement appeared.

“ General Motors has resumed production of the Chevrolet Bolt EV and EUV models after collaborating with battery supplier LG Chem to identify and solve the assembly error that was causing fires in the vehicles’ batteries.

The company acknowledged that the underlying cause of the battery fires was a combination of manufacturing defects. If the battery’s anode is torn during the assembly process, and one of the cell separators also gets a fold in it, that cell was at risk for a fire.”

 
Settings> Software> Check for update.
Mine was BP before and BS after the update, no change noted and car still charges to 100%

Interesting ! My 2019 vehicle went in for H441 update yesterday. Doubted that it had been done as my car was returned to me within 20 minutes, so I went to check…

no information at all here on the last update nor the BECS!
I checked on osh.jaguar.com and Topix…both indicate that the H441 update is outstanding.
