. For example battery tech has been in the prius for nearly 30 years now (launched in 1997).
Most Prius and many other Toyota Hybrid batteries are NiMH not Lithium but they do use lithium on some longer range and PHEV models.

Although the LG batteries used in the IPace have had safety issues it’s the failure to provide replacements or timely repair that has been the issue, not the battery itself. The electronic and software issues with all EVs has meant that there are no independant companies that do more than straightforward servicing on any EVs as far as I can tell.

What mileage you on now? Did you extend warranty with Jaguar? You had any major faults?
At 30,000+ a bit at the moment and I have extended the warranty every year. It is getting a bit expensive to extend it but a lot cheaper than spending £98000 on a Porsche Macan 4S. Significant 'teething' troubles in the earlier days until the issues were identified but in the last 3 years, you get in the car, go where you are going, come back, plug in, repeat.... Oh and I spoilt it with 4 new tyres. Could have probably managed a few more thousand on the old ones but heigh ho! Oh, and I woke up one morning to discovered a very long crack in the windscreen, contacted Tesco Insurance they sent me to National Windscreens, got a brand new windscreen properly fixed and all cameras aligned under the insurance so no issues with windscreen bonding either.

Yeah, not a particularly unusual or great deal though; it's just the way prices have gone.

Each to their own in car choices, but IMO neither the EV6 or the Z4 is in the same league as the I-pace as an overall package (we all know its frailties).
I would say a top end EV6 is a direct competitor it doesn't have as plush insides but it does have a lot of pro's over the ipace, similar looks, better battery tech, etc. I think they even have massage seats for example. The Ipace is far more luxurious and better looking, status symbol however I think the EV6 7 year warranty is what makes it the far more sensible buy. I only went for the Jag as I've been an admirer of the ipace for a while now and it's a fantastic car but I wouldn't have bothered if I didn't get the 2 year warranty with it.

Hi ladies and gents. I'm looking for some iPace advice.

I've been a huge fan of the car, and I'm finally able to afford a 2nd hand version, but I'm concerned about reliability and servicing.

Firstly, with jaguar's new global direction I've heard that many jaguar dealerships are closing down, and therefore may not be able to service the vehicle or get parts.

If Jaguar is potentially shutting down, where would I find replacement parts for servicing?

Secondly, I've heard stories about iPaces being stuck in dealerships for over five months because on ongoing issues or lack of parts.

So my question is, is it still worth it? If you were me, would you go ahead and buy one, or get something from another manufacturer instead?

Thanks all, really appreciate the advice.

Chris
I've just got rid of mine after 11 months of ownership. It spent three of those months at the dealer waiting to be repaired (it wouldn't charge from any AC charger). I was glad to be rid of it.

I agree with the guy above about saving a lot more money buying a pre-21 facelift. I was very tempted to spend nearly £21,000 on a low mileage three year-old car but I’ve gone for a high mileage five-year-old car for 13 grand instead and a 3yr warranty for £1,350. The insurance is cheap because I’m 57 and I’ve got a great local Jaguar mechanic who works for only £5 more per hour than the warranty pays. So far, it’s amazing. Okay, the entertainment system and main computer seems a bit slow but it works a lot better than my Leaf’s one.
Hello, would you mind sharing where you managed to purchase the extended warranty for 3 years? My dealership is only offering 1 year, but saying they can renew it each year, but I'd rather have the reassurance knowing i'd locked in 3 years now.

I'm hoping to pick up a MY18 myself

So not the Jaguar extended warranty then?

As long as the RAC will cover the Jaguar labour rate and have a suitably high claim limit then happy days.

It was the RAC Platinum EV insurance. I bought with the car from Ashridge Vehicles in Hemel Hempstead. They offer 1-3 years and gave me a good deal.
The 5K claim limit/y could be an issue but on the surface it seems decent as it clearly states wear and tear included.

They gave me a free 1y.

I'm very much in an idential situation to yourself now. My question is, did you get the car in the end and if so, any regret or loving this ace car?!
