I don't seem to have received any data either on the DIMO iPhone app or in HomeAssistant since 4th April...
Thanks, after seeing it wasn't just me I reached out to SmartCar. Response came through fairly quickly:

Thanks for reaching out to Smartcar Support! We currently are experiencing a Jaguar and Land Rover outage. Once the outage is resolved, the issues should go away! Please follow along for updates here: https://brandreliability.smartcar.com/

Additionally, moving forward, we ask that you file a ticket through DIMO first, as we work directly with them to resolve their customer issues.
You can subscribe to the issue from the link above and presumably we'll get notified when it's sorted.

After JLR effectively axed third party API support, making it simply too difficult to keep WattCat, jlrpy and all derivatives working, I decided to look at alternative solutions. I ended up with DIMO where I have been helping out with CAN signal decoding and other EV centric features!

I recently teamed up with the developer of the JLR InControl Home Assistant integration (which also stopped working when JLR killed third party apps) and we developed a DIMO integration. The major benefit of course being that it supports all vehicles connected to DIMO, not just JLR vehicles.

If anyone here happens to run Home Assistant and would like to give the integration a try, I would really appreciate any feedback! The integration is available on GitHub and all it requires is a connection to DIMO. You can opt for a software connection which is free, but updates quite infrequently, or you can invest in a hardware device that plugs into the OBD2 port which polls more data several times a minute.

I'm attaching some screenshots for inspiration :) Home Assistant is pretty awesome!

I was looking for a HA integration- will give this a look.

Hi, quick question, for dimo to work do I have to be subscribed to the Jaguar Remote? Thx.
Possibly not? Dimo is getting data from SmartCar, who in turn get it from all the manufacturers. You need to authenticate with your Jaguar InControl account, although I'm unsure whether you would actually need the subscription active because SmartCar seems to be a platform for fleet-level data.

Bear in mind the Dimo data via SmartCar refreshes every two hours, it's not real-time like in the Jag Remote app - maybe there is a bulk data export happening in the background, which might explain why SmartCar still gets data despite Jaguar closing the API to (other) third parties. There are even remote lock/unlock options in the Dimo app (again I think via SmartCar) which you can choose to enable or disable. Make your own mind up on that one 😬

If you're not subscribed, let us know what works!

Hi, my subscription ran out a couple of weeks ago, not decided whether to renew yet. Any way the message I get is:

"Jaguar Remote account is empty

Please verify that you can see data from or issue commands to your vehicle(s) in the Jaguar Remote application."

I assume it's because I haven't renewed the remote subscription.

FYI, I've bought a used HP thin client from ebay, I'll be installing Home Assistant on it, and will renew my Remote subscription if necessary to check out the integration with my ipace.

Hi all,

I can confirm I've got DIMO to work after renewing my Remote subscription.

It was a bit of a faff with passkey issues, but finally got it to connect to my car.

Next step will be setting up the HAos on a hp thin client (T630). It should be delivered in the next couple of days. It has win10 on it, I'll save an image of it, wipe the hdd and do a clean install of HAos. Never used HA, so I expect a bit of a learning curve.

Any advice or useful info will be appreciated!

Cheers.

Hi, can anyone explain how the the Dimo Lte R1 sim works regarding mobile data contract. The sim apparently comes active with a 2 Yr contract.

What happens when this expires?

Can you extend the contract, at what cost?

Can you install a new sim after it expires?

If you install a new sim, how would the new sim's mobile number link the device to your account?

Finally it seems rather expensive, any thoughts?

Thx.

Just received an email stating the DIMO software connection will stop on 10th July. Thats a shame as I have HA controlling my charger, turning the charge on and off depending on battery levels

Hi,

You don't need Dimo.

I've bypassed the Dimo integration in HA. Just create a free Smartcar Developer account and install the Smartcar integration in HA.

The Smartcar integration has the same functionality as Dimo had, as Dimo was using Smartcar to retrieve the data.

Has this stopped as well :( Just tried to set up Smartcar after getting the DIMO death knell.

Yes, it hasn't updated for a couple of weeks now. I've wasted enough time on Dimo then Smartcar. I've removed both from HA. Jaguar Remote will have to do.

Yeah according to Smartcar Brand Reliability Status the JLR integration been partially or fully down for weeks now. I guess SmartCar isnt even attempting new authentication until its fixed, which is probably a good idea.

Getting a lot of timeout errors even in the app today, maybe more people are using their remote AC in this heat wave!

I have thought another solution could be to run an Android emulator in a container and scrape the content via OCR, (range, odometer SoC etc) then somehow getting that data into HA with a custom sensor. In theory this might be possible but could be a big CPU hog, very fragile with app updates, and probably violating JLR terms of use one way or another.
