When having locked the car and keeping the keys far away, can you open said door?
There are no problems with opening and locking, only an unpleasant sound that makes it clear that something is about to break down. It even appears when opening the front door at the same this sound is still there in the rear right door.

Experiment: Set the car to 2-stage unlocking (via system settings). Get out and lock the car. Use the fob unlock button to unlock the car. Only the driver door should unlock and its handle extend. Did you hear the noise. If not, this confirms that the right rear door unlocking is making the noise. You should hear the noise if you press the unlock button a second time, or press a door handle button, to unlock all doors.

Yes but what I'm asking is trying that, as it may appear to be locked but it isn't

Hi, I noticed a whining electrical sound coming from the back door area on the driver side when I close the driver’s door. Last just a few seconds. Anyone experienced this? Had the car a few days sounds like some kind of motor/electrical noise.
Hi I had the sound on the right hand back door of my I pace.Handed it in to the authorized jaguar work shop who did a computer check.
Result was that the handle had to be replaced.
Had the same problem with 2 doors on my range rover evoque resulting in change of door handles.

I conducted this experiment.
After the first unlock the driver's door with key fob, there was complete silence in the right rear door. After the second unlock, only a light knock appeared in the right rear door.
The creaking sound as in the video above from Covmarco appears only if you fully open any door.
Problem with door lock actuator?

Hi the JLR dealer did a quick listen and have ordered me a handle and latch it’s booked in for next Thursday I’ll advise what they do and if it fixes it ! My symptoms sound exactly the same as yours Denjok
Thanks. I hope you will be helped under warranty. Since I don't have one. I'll have to do it myself.
So the JLR dealer doesn't think it's necessary to change the door lock actuator?

Well, my car is just out of manufacturers warranty . The independent dealer I bought it off suggested I try as a goodwill gesture otherwise I would have to take it to them which is a four hour round trip. JLR were a little vague but it seems they are prepared to do it free of charge but I guess that would depend on what they find but as it stands, I haven’t paid anything. I will of course update Forum with how it progresses.

Covmarco, do you have any news for us?

So good news all seems fixed. JLR, without much persuading, to fix the fault outside 3 year manufacturer warranty ( by about 2 months)

they ordered a new door handle and latch but only replaced the handle as this resolved the noise, I assume there is a motor on the handle unit .

I have to say, this is my first experience of Jaguar customer care and it has been first rate - quite contrary to whatever you might read on forums and YouTube

Good that everything was resolved. Perhaps you can tell me the part number of the handle?

Now the issue has drawn to a happy conclusion can someone please, please edit the thread title. Teeth on edge - fingers down a blackboard. 😬

Today I removed the door panel and the handle.
Unfortunately, the handle motor itself is sealed inside a plastic part and there is absolutely no access to it.
The part number of my handle is J9D3-26600-AE.
There are also handles with the following part numbers for sale: J9D3-26600-AC and J9D3-26600-AD.
Can they be also used and will they work normally?

From looking at eBay that would fit my car MY22 EV400

they only changed the handle, not the latch so the whining noise must have been the motor that pops the handle in and out

mum pretty confident if yours made the same noise then swapping that part number will work - about £120 on eBay not sure on the JLR new price - maybe 1200 lol

A word of warning.
I have recently had one of the handles replaced under warranty because the button on it had ceased to function. Before having it done at the local dealership I thought I'd do it myself (straightforward job if you know one end of a screwdriver from the other) and found one on eBay for £85, believing that the iPace handles are the same as those on the Velar. They're not! Neither are they the same across the MY models!
JLR in their infinite wisdom decided to change the type of electric cable connector from year to year so if you're going down the eBay route be sure it's the correct one for your iPace MY.

The door handle was repaired with my own hands.
After applying load to the handle motor, the drive opened, moved forward, grease for gears was applied to it, the drive was closed, then opened and greased again, and so on a couple of times.
Then all moving elements of the handle were lubricated with the same grease.
After assembling and reinstalling the handle, there are no more sounds.
In total, the entire process took about 4 hours.
